I have type 2 Diabetes and I have tingling in my finger tips, WHY ? What can I do to prevent this ?

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

It sounds like it is peripheral nerve damage and it occurs when you blood glucose level is high and remains high for long periods. You need to talk to your diabetic doctor/nurse and look at your sugar levels and review your medication. If you manage to lower your levels you may notice an improvement in the symptoms but it may be that they are permanent

There is type 2 diabetes on both sides of my family, what can I do NOW to prevent it from happening later?

Well, at least keep it so I don’t have it bad.

Eat nutritiously, exercise, and stay slim.

How can Type 2 Diabetes be prevented? I need a medicaly accepted answer.?

Please quote a scientific study that supports your answer. I am not interested in unproven opinions.

The best way is to eat right, exercise, and avoid carrying too much weight. That does not mean that you can PREVENT it, but you can make it much easier to treat. The more fat you carry on your body, the less efficiently your body will use its own insulin. In type 2, you are still making insulin, your body just can’t use it. So eating a healthy diet and regular exercise will help your body burn off the excess glucose in your blood.

!!!NO CURE!!!

Prevention is the ONLY answer.

You MUST maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Keep your weight thin-to-normal based on a height-to-weight ration.

Eat a healthy balanced diet. ELIMINATE sugars as much as possible, including colas, sports drinks, energy drinks, canned fruit juices, candies, cakes, cookies, pies and ice cream.

Eat fewer starches like breads, crackers, pastas, rice, corn, and potatoes.

eat more fibers, like green vegetables wholegrain breads and cereals (like Cheerios)

Get more exercise. Ride a bike, swim, play baseball or soccer or basketball. run, jog, or walk.

There is NO CURE for diabetes. You have to try to prevent it, but once you have it you will have it for life. PREVENTION is the best medicine.

Diabetes Prevention
Diabetes prevention is proven, possible, and powerful. Studies show that people at high risk for type 2 diabetes can prevent or delay the onset of the disease by losing 5 to 7 percent of their body weight. You can do it by eating healthier and getting 30 minutes of physical activity 5 days a week. In other words: you don’t have to knock yourself out to prevent diabetes

would beanpod tea be great for PREVENTING type 2 DIABETES?

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Ok then, what can DELAY it?

The only way to prevent type 2 diabetes is through lifestyle. Get your body to a healthy weight, eat right, and get the correct amount of exercise. There is not wonderful thing that can get us out of the work involved, but with commitment to a healthy lifestyle type 2 diabetes is almost completely preventable.

How can I prevent myself from getting Type 2 diabetes?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

My dad has recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. He inherited it from his mom, since she was also a diabetic, and my 2 uncles are diabetic(Type2) also. My mom does not have health problems and she is not overweight at all. Only my dad is slightly overweight and dislikes exercise and does not care about what he eats. When I went to the doctor recently for a checkup, I found that I had a white patch on my feet which is an indication that I will get diabetic later in life. Right now, I’m an teen. After hearing that, I am now trying to cut back on sugar. But I hate doing this and having to watch my food intake all the time and having to restrict sugar. I’m not overweight and exercise a lot since I do Taekwondo and competitive running. But I like sugar, even though I eat it in moderation. Is there any way I can prevent myself from getting diabetic like my dad or am I doomed to have Type 2 diabetes and die early?
I am of East Indian descent and apparently we’re more prone to diabetes than other cultures.

You are not guaranteed to get diabetes, although you do have a higher risk since it is in your family.

Mainly keep your weight stable by not overeating, and make sure you continue some form of exercise throughout life. Save sugary treats for special occasions. That way you should either avoid diabetes, or get it much later if life.

Also, try to do your best to encourage your dad to take care of his diabetes, lose weight, and exercise. Over the years, he can develop some rather nasty complications like blindness, limb amputations, or kidney failure if glucose is not monitored.
