Hi,
I have been reading a very good book, Dr. Barnard’s program for reversing diabetes. In the book, Dr. Barnard states that even identical twins only have a 40% chance of both getting diabetes if one gets it.
I think that you have a better of chance of getting diabetes from your parent’s cookbook than from your genes. Eating things like bacon, ham, eggs, lots of milk products are more likely to cause diabetes than eating vegetables.
Cure? Well not really, but prevention is the key. You can always lessen the amount of problems from diabetes.
Dr. Barnard has done studies where the subjects have lowered their A1c from over 9.0 to less than 6.5 and also stabilized their blood sugar levels at the same time. They also lost 40 pounds over a year.
Best of luck to you.

Bacon, eggs, ham and milk do not cause diabetes. Those a low carb foods. They are fatty foods and may lead to high cholesterol and an eventual heart attack. I’m not sure who this Dr. Barnard is and how he has some magic cure for reversing diabetes that no main stream doctors can offer.
You MAY be able to prevent type 2, or delay it’s onset. My mom had type 2, and needed medication. She lost weight, started walking every day and then didn’t need medication to keep her glucose level low. Some years later she gained weight again and she needed pills again to control her blood sugar. Did she reverse or cure her condition? You decide. Folks debate whether a person like her had diabetes when she maintained good blood sugar without medication.
Some doctors say that bariatric surgery is a cure. People who have diabetes before this procedure do not appear to have it afterwards. This is even before they have lost significant weight.

The usual treatment for type 2 diabetes patients is the prescription of oral tablets. There are mainly 4 different types of tablet treatment for people with type 2 diabetes. These 4 different oral treatments are usually taken alone or in combination. Many patients with type 2 diabetes find that these medications when taken with a healthy eating pattern will keep their diabetes under control. However it will usually take some time to discover the most effective combination or dosage for each individual patient.
These treatment tablets all work in different ways to help control type 2 diabetes. Some of the tablets will help the pancreas to produce more insulin while others help the body to better use of the insulin the pancreas produces. There are also tablets, which slow down the speed at which the body absorb glucose from the intestine.
